Back in September, I had the pleasure of being able to attend the What If DayCamp here in Nashville. It was an awesome one-day conference modeled after the What If Conference and it challenged me to focus on what I wanted Katy J. Photography to be and how to make it a reflection of who I am. Not only was it awesome because it challenged my thinking, but it also introduced me to other conscientious business owners striving to make the world a better place through their work. One of those rockin’ people was Jenny Solar, she and her husband are the founders of The Happy Family Movement.  Jenny is an amazing mother of three and has inspired me to try to make the time with my children meaningful. One of the projects The Happy Family Movement has started is the Portrait Project. Each week they post a portrait of their individual children documenting where they are, what they are doing and the emotions felt that week- what a great way to remember the ups and downs of family life and childhood! As a parent of two young boys, I have come to realize how quickly time flies and how important it is to savor the small aspects of life that will disappear as my boys get older, so I decided to join the Happy Family Movement in taking weekly portraits. These portraits are not to showcase perfect children always sweetly posed and smiling at the camera, they are to record the phase of life we’re in (example: this week’s brother pic failed- D let Teddy flop backwards which prompted Teddy to cry… not perfect, but that’s our life right now, haha). I invite you to not only read and keep up with my boys through this blog, but I would also encourage you to do whatever you can in order to preserve and enjoy the small things in your life! -KJ
